Eight days ago I used Spokeo service to do a one-time look-up of a name based on a phone number, and I paid their fee of $0.95 for this service. I subscribed to nothing else during that transaction, at least nothing that I could see. Today, on the eighth day, I see a charge of $29.95 for a monthly subscription that they claim I subscribed to when I activated my one-time purchase. THAT IS A LIE. I called them and had to twist some arms to get them to undo this charge. Even during this phone conversation, their agent #1617, who said he was “Joshua”, tried delaying tactics like putting me on hold, being nauseatingly uber-polite, using my name a thousand times, et cetera, and otherwise wasting my time. Without getting into all the details I got him to reverse the charge, but it should not be this difficult, and they should not have made the charge in the first place!THIS SCUMBAG OPERATION USES FRAUDULENT TACTICS TO SWINDLE PEOPLE.
