Rail (rail.ninja)

Booked Shinkansen (bullet train) tickets via Rail Ninja for an upcoming trip to Japan as the site was recommended in a travel blog that I read (in hindsight, I really wonder if that blogger actually used them!). Anyway, Rail Ninja have taken payment from me but I’ve been waiting over a week now for tickets to arrive (which makes no sense obviously). I’ve had zero communication from them and no response to multiple messages that I’ve sent to customer support either. I then discovered the large number of negative reviews about Rail Ninja online and decided to cancel my tickets as they say they’ll give you an 80% refund. Rather predictably, the cancel button on my booking profile doesn’t work and just takes me to a dead page. In summary, I would avoid using Rail Ninja because at best, you’ll get poor quality service and at worst, you’re getting scammed. Go direct to the rail provider and make sure it really is their site (in my case, Rail Ninja have set up a site called “Shinkansen Trains” that looks like the official rail provider or an official reseller and claims to use Rail Ninja as their booking platform. That’s not the case as you will have gathered).
