Despite my better judgment, I fell for the superficial appeal of Masterclass. The video content is beautifully produced. The classes are average. What you pay for is the expertise of industry leaders with name recognition. This can be a thoughtful gift or a small investment for someone who can afford it. I would not recommend it to an individual on a budget. They entice you with the 30-day risk-free guarantee but don’t tell you that they charge for an annual subscription upfront. Thankfully, the support I received upon requesting a refund was prompt and helpful. Masterclass is not a scam, but they are clever in their marketing. My suggestions to the company are to offer a genuine try-before-you-buy experience for people who need to fully assess the value of the product before purchasing it. One-minute trailers and vague course curriculum lists do not provide enough information to make an informed decision. Additionally, it should be made clear on the plan selection page that the user will be charged the full amount for a recurring annual subscription upfront rather than in small monthly installments.
