Like many others, I was misled to believe I was booking with the hotel (The Lodge at Columbia Point) directly. It wasn’t until after I accepted the charges and their refund policy that the customer representative informed me that I should call the hotel directly to confirm my pet friendly room reservation. At no point during our call did the representative inform me that I was speaking with a 3rd party booking agency. Shortly after the call I received the reservation confirmation from GetaRoom that revealed their 3rd party fees. I called them back 10 minutes later to cancel the reservation and request a full refund. The representative offered a measly discount instead of the full refund. This is the absolute worst customer experience. Even the hotel staff believes this is a scam. I will continue to raise complaints through the Better Business Bureau.
