Started to book rooms at Hampton Inn on line, was evidently redirected to Getaroom without any disclosure. It turns out that this is a third-party site that presents its website as if it is the actual hotel company, and loads a big “service” fee on top of the hotel charges. It also claims that it has a no cancellation no refund policy that you are bound to immediately. As soon as I saw the total charge I realized I was not dealing directly with Hampton Inn and I left the site without completing the booking. I immediately made the reservation directly with Hilton. However, I had input all the information on Getaroom’s form and they proceeded to act as if I had agreed to make the reservation through them. I am surprised that Hilton participates in this fraudulent scheme by allowing Getaroom to offer room reservations in their name. I have been charged for a reservation I did not know I’d made and for rooms that I didn’t use. My credit card company (Chase) is no help.Don’t get fooled.
