Getaroom

    Similar experience to everyone else. Getaroom.com hijacked the best western hotel in Halifax’s website when I tried to book directly online. It appeared as Guest Services, which seemed legitimate. I completed the booking, and noted the extra $200 to the total, but also noted that I booked it for the wrong weekend. I tried to simply change the date from the website and it stated that this wasn’t an option. My only option was a refund, but there would be a penalty of over $700. I was incensed. I had never heard of anything like this before. I called their phone number and after threatening to call Canadian anti/fraud, they said they’re willing to provide a full refund, but it’s up to the partner hotel, but they’ll gladly contact them and make the request. They said I’d receive a response in 24-48 hours. I then called Best Western directly and they had seen the reservation and cancellation but they had 0$ of my $900 and could not refund it. When I called bookaroom.com to inform them of this, they kept to the same script that they were waiting to hear back from the partner hotel. I will change my rating if they actually provide the refund. It’ll be 48 hours this evening. We’ll see.
