I would give zero stars if I could. On August 24, 2023, I went to the website of Panorama Amadi Hotel in Amsterdam. I booked a room for a visit to my son and his family Oct. 7-15, 2023. Within a few hours, I realized that these dates wouldn’t work, so I went to my email to cancel. That’s when I discovered that I had booked through getaroom.com without my knowledge. Never did I see anything during my booking to indicate that I had been redirected away from the hotel website. I have spoken to and emailed several people from getaroom, with the same negative result…no refund of over $1800! I have called the hotel in Amsterdam and was told they would give a refund had I booked with them. I explained my effort and intension was to do just that, book on their website, but getaroom had pirated their page putting me in a terrible predicament, but was told it was out of their hands and I should go back to getaroom and continue to ask for my refund. I emailed the manager at the hotel asking them to submit a waiver to getaroom saying it was ok to refund my money. I haven’t heard back. I would love to change my review to one with more positive comments, but as of today, 8/30/23, I have nothing good to say about this company. They pirate a website and then say they are responsible for paying the hotel and therefore cannot refund a customer’s money. Everyone knows this is not true. I feel there’s enough disgruntled customers to file a class action lawsuit against these scammers. I’ve never experienced such a negative experience in my 50 years of travel!
