I was contacted by someone claiming to be a buyer on eBay, where I was trying to sell my old furniture. The individual further contacted me through Whatsapp and advised me that they had already paid for the item(s), but before receiving the credit, I needed to approve a payment through my bank app. They stated it would be for verification purposes only and convinced me by sending a link, which led me to a (fake) eBay website. On that website, a support agent prompted me to follow their instructions, assuring me that no money would be deducted from my account. When I approved the transactions of 246.05 pounds believing it was just for verification, the money was gone, and the scammer never showed up again. The transfer was made to pay.flutterwave. I have contacted the bank and Flutterwave to refund the money involved. But no luck yet. I hope the Flutterwave will cooperate! This is absolutely terrible and frustrating that this company even exists.
