Used to love shopping on etsy, but now there are so many fraudulent sellers, given preferential listing space, reselling mass made cheap tat, they’ve bought in bulk from China, and then selling it as more expensive materials than it actually is. My dad bought my 40th birthday gift from etsy, paying over £200 for a necklace listed as solid gold. Was gold plated crap and the playing rubbed off in only a few wears. It was listed all over etsy by multiple sellers as “handmade” and “real gold”. All lies. My poor elderly dad paid in good faith. Also the way genuine small business sellers are treat by Etsy is a disgrace and has also ruined the etsy platform, as now most small businesses can’t afford to sell via etsy so when searching for gift ideas etc choice is less than a few years ago. Etsy is now just mass made, “made in China” crap sold on an over priced. Everything etsy was supposed to NOT be.
