Appalling – got to the counter in Gran Canaria to be told they would not accept my Amex credit card for damage deposit (even though I’d used it to pay for the rental!) This was NOT flagged at any point during the booking process, on the hire voucher or in any emails. It’s buried right down in the Tcs and C’s that you have to click a link to open and then scroll through. Absolute scam. Was told would have to pay an extra 250 euros for premium insurance as they wouldn’t accept my card. I refused. They kept the £112 I paid for the car but would not release it to me. Was left stranded at the airport alone in the dark (I am a solo female traveller).
