I compared rates online for the Sofitel Heathrow UK T5, and this one came out cheapest at £193.10. As I hit “book“, I noticed an extra charge had been added at that moment for an additional sum for “taxes and charges” of £89.66 (so I was charged £282.76). I was very unhappy as I felt I had been scammed, and went into the online booking to see if I could cancel it. It turned out that I could, but before I finally confirmed, I booked the same hotel on another website much more cheaply, and then went back and hit cancel. I was horrified that without any warning, it charged me the full rate I had paid as a cancellation fee, so I got nothing back, and had been conned out of all of my money. This is a fraud. Avoid at all costs.
