My story about hotelvalues is very similar to the others I have been reading. I thought I was booking on the Atlantica Hotel in Halifax’s website and had $400 added to my booking for 2 nights, which I probably didn’t notice, until I received my confirmation from hotelvalues. When I tried to cancel my booking it cost me the so called $848.11 CAD cancellation fee although I was told bookings cancelled after the date I cancelled were “non-refundable” – but what about on or before the date I cancelled – still subject to cancellation fee? You got it!But here’s the new info. The money was removed from my credit card account by Priceline. Priceline is owned by Booking Holdings which also owns Booking, KAYAK, Agoda, Priceline, Open Table and Rentalarcars. I think these are all legit companies, some of which I have dealt with many times with no problem.When I phoned Priceline at the number my credit card company gave me, I spoke to a company representative who looked up the reservation number I received from hotelvalues and she had all the info including why I was charged the $848.11 CAD Cancellation Fee.Is Priceline/Booking Holdings the actual scammer here? Are they still trying to cover up the hotelvalues scam who’s website they seem to have now taken down and seem to have been the actual owners?
