It _used to_ be a decent site, providing a great service to people looking to travel cheaply or more, but it was run by amateurs. They couldn’t make modern responsive UIs, and every time they needed to make improvements to the site or app they needed a ton of time and money and still under-delivered. Apparently they also couldn’t make the site scale, and that it’s very expensive to run, so even with the verification fees they’ve been getting from us it’s not enough and they need to hold our data hostage for a ransom, and apparently scamming people by over-charging them. The level of incompetence and greed is amazing. They killed their own service. If you want to actually surf or host like the old days, look for alternatives like couchers, bewelcome or trustroots. I haven’t actually used them personally and don’t know which to recommend.
