Just booked accommodation for USA trip with the family via booking.com. Arrived at our accommodation in California to be told it wasn’t available so had to take a smaller apartment with less beds – totally unfit for our needs. Contacted booking.com upon return and they couldn’t be less interested. Zero customer service and advised me that they were only the agent so I should call the owners – who are now uncontactable. So, legalised mugging by booking.com! The accommodation is still being advertised on their site so clearly a scam. I will never use them again and warn anyone else to expect the same service if anything goes wrong with accommodation – so book direct as booking.com couldn’t care less about their customers…..
