Ten days ago I was sent a “Notification of Majoration” dated 07/01/2023 for a parking fine which had been increased to €121.95. I had never received a “first” fine. The fine was for parking at the Holiday Inn in Ipswich on the 28th May last year (2022). Well, I WAS parked at the Holiday Inn at Ipswich, and guess why? Yes, you have it – I WAS STAYING THERE. The hotel has been very helpful in sending me confirmation of my invoice AND making it clear that it is NOT hotel policy at either of the 2 Holiday Inns at Ipswich to issue parking fines. I shall not be paying this supposed fine and I expect a full apology from the company for wasting my time and that of the hotel. I should very much like to know HOW this all happened, since the hotel was unaware. Stolen cctv footage? Rogue cameras out for a scam? And where does all this money go? No doubt I will note receive any apology nor any useful explanation. All I can do is put people on their guard against this sort of malpractice. If anyone wants to see a copy of the fine (“majorated”) and my invoice, they are here on my computer.
